Sporting’s NextGen side won 4-3 in an exciting encounter in Norway to enforce their position firmly on top of Group 2.
Sporting were without some of their usual NextGen starters with Betinho and those who were a part of the trip to Angola: Rúben Semedo, Rodolfo Simões, Edgar Ié, Filipe Chaby, Farley Rosa, Luís Cortez, and Iuri Medeiros.
The scoring began after just 4 minutes when Mateus Fonseca put Sporting ahead before Ivar Furu equalised for the home side after the 18th minute. Alexandre Guedes put Ricardo Sá Pinto’s side ahead before the half-time break.
Shortly after the beginning of the second half midfielder João Mário added a third for Sporting before just 8 minutes later grabbing a fourth goal.
Molde didn’t lie down after that though and came back into the match first through Zlatko Tripic’s goal and then Simon Markeng ensured a nervous finish for Sporting but they held on to make it 4 wins out of 5 NextGen matches so far.
The final group game for Sporting is on Wednesday as they host Liverpool before the knock-out rounds of the competition in 2012.
