Sporting B came back from behind to draw 1-1 with Portimonense at the Academia Sporting. Mamadu Candé took the lead for the visitors before Matheus Pereira pulled one back for Sporting. Sporting ended the game with 10 men when Bruno Paulista was sent off.
João de Deus’ team was coming off of two wins in a row but trailed early on when Mamadu Candé, today facing his brother Sambinha, scored from a freekick.
It was the visitors first real chance on goal but it was enough to see them go into half-time with the lead.
Matheus Pereira evened the score just 2 minutes after the restart after good work in the build up from Diego Rubio and Francisco Geraldes.
It looked like Sporting were going to take the win until Bruno Paulista was dismissed for picking up a second yellow card in the 72nd minute. Despite a decent performance from the Brazilian, getting sent off won’t help him embed himself in Jorge Jesus’ first team plans just yet.
From that point on it was all Portimonense as the visitors tried to take advantage of their superior numbers. Sporting B, however, stayed firm and held onto a point, leaving Sporting B 6th in the table.
