Squad for the Braga Game

There’s a few interesting selections in Leonardo Jardim’s squad for Saturday night’s league game against Braga.

With the suspensions of ever-present Adrien Silva and Fredy Montero, Leonardo Jardim has elected not to bring in a striker from the B-team and Wallyson Mallmann makes his first appearance in a Sporting squad.

The 20-year Brazilian midfielder is unlikely to start ahead of Vítor Silva, Gérson Magrão, or Eric Dier but could feature from the bench to make his full debut.

Islam Slimani is the only out-and-out striker in the squad, in what is a big opportunity for him to become the club’s first choice striker. Wilson Eduardo and Carlos Mané however can both play the second striker role.

The full list:

Goalkeepers: Rui Patrício, William Carvalho
Defenders: Maurício, Marcos Rojo, Cédric Soares, Jefferson, Eric Dier, Iván Piris
Midfielders: André Martins, William Carvalho, Vítor Silva, Gérson Magrão, Wallyson Mallmann
Forwards: Islam Slimani, Carlos Mané, Wilson Eduardo, Héldon Ramos, Diego Capel, André Carrillo, Diego Capel
