Sporting B drew their first game of the season at home to Académico de Viseu at the Alvalade in what was a fairly uneventful game.
Abel Ferreira had first team players Eric Dier, Islam Slimani, Fabián Rinaudo and Jefferson to chose from. Slimani and Rinaudo were both making their first appearances for the B team as they both started the game.
The game was a fairly even contest with the home side having the slight edge of the game. Iuri Medeiros and Ricardo Esgaio were the biggest threats to Viseu in the first-half down the flanks.
The best chances of the first-half came through freekicks by both teams. João Martins forced a good save out of Luís Ribeiro where as Iuri Medeiros also threatened but was denied by Viseu goalkeeper Ricardo Janota.
Jefferson managed to make his return to competitive football after his injury when he replaced Hugo Sousa after 61 minutes.
Islam Slimani had the best chance of the second half but his header from a corner kick was again well saved by Janota.
It was perhaps a fairly deserved result in the end with neither team doing enough to earn victory.
