Sporting have announced that Evaldo Fabiano has been released from his contract and is now a free agent with the club wishing him the best for the future.
Evaldo joined the club back in 2008 from Braga for €3,000,000 after the player previously had stints with Marítimo and Porto. The Brazilian left-back, who had been displaced with signing of Emiliano Insúa back in 2011, spent last season on loan at Deportivo de La Coruña.
Evaldo did feature for Leonardo Jardim twice in pre-season even scoring a goal against West Ham United but that was not enough for him to secure a future at the club. Evaldo had competition with the new arrivals of Jefferson, Welder and later Iván Piris as well as from home-grown Mica.
The 31-year-old is now a free agent and will now be looking for a new club.
The departure of Evaldo also raises questions for the futures of Jeffrén Suárez and Zakaria Labyad.
