Portimonense beat Sporting B 2-0 in Portimão with just a little help from the referee.
Abel Ferreira was able to play first team players Marcelo Boeck and Gerson Magrão for the B teams visit to Portimão. Gerson Magrão making his first appearance for the B-team.
A very even game was only disrupted midway through the second-half by two very poor refereeing decisions in Portimonense’s favour.
In the 65th minute Portimonense were awarded a penalty for a handball by Ricardo Esgaio in the box. The decision was hugely harsh on Esgaio who could not move away from Kikas’ defensive clearance. The decision from the referee to give a second yellow card to Ricardo Esgaio is perhaps even more absurd than the penalty decision itself.
Regardless, Ricardo Pessoa stepped up and smashed the penalty into the top left-hand corner leaving Marcelo Boeck with no chance of saving it.
From there on Portimonense dominated the rest of the game and Ricardo Alves wrapped up the win in the 77th minute with a great strike.
