Abel Ferreira’s Sporting B returned to winning ways coming from behind to defeat Açores club Santa Clara 2-1.
New signing Iván Piris made his debut for the B team with Salim Cissé leading the line up front.
It was the visiting side who take the lead at the Alvalade through midfielder Hugo Santos in the 25th minute.
Sporting though managed to equalise three minutes before the break as Ricardo Esgaio converted a penalty to score his first goal of the season.
It was Salim Cissé, a player who was perhaps disappointed not to be a part of Jardim’s first team plans for this weekend, who made the difference in the end with his first ever goal for the club from Filipe Chaby’s pass. The Guinean’s 59th minute goal giving Sporting B the win at the Alvalade.
