A Bola today reported that 18 year-old midfielder Agostinho Cá may leave at the end of summer. The paper sources the player’s agent, Paulo Rodrigues, who seems to be flaunting his player to various clubs including Juventus, Internazionale, AC Milan and Valencia.
The Guinea-Bissau born midfielder’s contract expires at the end of the 2012/2013 season. Sporting included in his contract a release clause of €20,000,000 but the agent believes a bid of €1.5m or 2m maybe enough for a buyer to secure his signature.
If Agostinho Cá was to leave it would be another midfield prospect leaving the Academy in recent time. João Carlos left for Anfield in January.
It could be that Paulo Rodrigues is just applying pressure on Sporting to award the player an improved contract but failing that it would be a shame to see another youth product leave before managing to play for the first team.
