Sporting have certainly been busy in the past few days. After the recalling of Renato Neto and 18-month loan deal of Xandão, Sporting are now set to land Genoa striker Sebastián Ribas on loan until the end of the season with Sporting an option to buy afterwards.
The Uruguayan has failed to make the grade at Genoa this season having yet to make his debut for the Italian side. It is reported though that Sporting had been following his progress for some time especially as he helped French Ligue 2 side Dijon win promotion to Ligue 1 last season with an impressive 23 goals.
The deal has yet to be formally announced but with Genoa’s official website claiming it to be a all but complete it seems likely the deal will be announced very soon.
Sporting will now have Valeri Bojinov and Diego Rubio joined by Sebastián Ribas to try and dislodge Ricky van Wolfswinkel as the club’s main striker.
