Rumours around the English press speculate that Sporting may be set to take Stefan Savić for a 6-month loan deal from Manchester City.
According to the tabloid-posing-as-a-broadsheet Daily Mail, Sporting had been interesting in signing the former FK Partizan defender before City’s spending secured his services first. The defender has only made 8 appearances so far and could well be given more time in Lisbon.
The Mail’s source is apparently through the Montenegro player’s agent (former player Zoran Stojadinović) who said “He is on his way out of City in January and will leave on loan” with Sporting seemingly the destination.
With some players (like Kolo Touré) set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations it would not be surprising though if City were to keep their defender. The player’s high wages will also be an issue with Sporting’s management with the club perhaps requiring Manchester City to continue to pay a percentage.
