The new NextGen tournament begins tonight as Sporting’s U19 team travels to Anfield to face Liverpool in their first game. Ricardo Sá Pinto, who will be coaching the NextGen Sporting team, said of the game “Our players have a different level of competition, we know these setbacks, but we will do our best, without losing our identity and way of playing.”

There will be pressure for Sporting’s young team, with the reputation of the club as a leader in youth football to be defended.
