The signing of Jeffrén was completed and presented last night in front of the media. Jeffrén has agreed to a 5-year contract at the club after Sporting Clube de Portugal paid Barcelona €3,750,000 (with Barcelona receiving 20% of any future transfer fee), Jeffrén’s contract also includes a €30,000,000 release fee.
At the unveiling Jeffrén was given the #17 shirt and said “I am very proud to represent this club can. I am very happy for the trust they placed in me.”
The transfer of Jeffrén had began at the start of the week with the player leaving Barcelona’s USA tour to sign for the club, he now becomes the 14th new player to join the club.
Going out of the club is Alberto Zapater who has gone for free to Lokomotiv Moscow. The story first emerged last week but the Spaniard has now officially become a Lokomotiv player.
Zapater will be joining last season’s caretaker manager of Sporting, José Couceiro, at the club and the midfielder said that although receiving offers from other clubs, Couceiro was a major factor on his decision to join the Russian club.
