It seems that Alberto Zapater could be on his way to Lokomotiv Moscow. According to the Aragon-based paper Heraldo (the region of Spain where Alberto Zapater is from) the former Spain U21 international has reached an agreement to end his contract with Sporting and will sign for the Moscow club on a 5-year contract for free.
Zapater had joined Sporting from Genoa in the deal that sent Miguel Veloso in the opposite direction. It has been known for a while that he was unlikely to feature in the plans for next season and the arrival of Fabián Rinaudo and the likelihood of a 4-1-3-2 formation under Domingos Paciência next season means game time would be limited.
Of course, nothing is official yet but with previous players like Pedro Mendes, Maniche and Carlos Saleiro being allowed to move for nothing it would be no surprise should Alberto Zapater also depart. What it does is almost cerement the possibility that the likes of Simon Vukčević will also be allowed to leave the club on their terms.
