Another day, and another rumour of a Sporting lad off to England. This time it’s Daniel Carriço who is now being linked to the Premier League. Today the Metro is reporting that both Chelsea and Manchester City are eying up the local(ish) defender.
According to the Metro Chelsea would like to secure Carriço with eye for him becoming David Luiz’s next defensive partner, meaning Carriço would effectively become John Terry’s replacement. This seems unlikely at first, but David Luiz has had a huge impact at Stamford Bridge so far and is filling up the void another Portuguese defender, Ricardo Carvalho, left behind.
Manchester City had been strongly linked with snapping up Daniel Carriço previously during this year’s January transfer window. The alleged £15,000,000 (approximately €17,000,000) deal did not go through but apparently Roberto Mancini is still interested especially with Kolo Touré’s possible drugs ban on the horizon.
